Finance Assistant

We have a current vacancy for an efficient, accurate and analytical Finance Assistant to support the Finance team in maintaining a well-controlled finance function within Sustainable Energy First. This is an office based role however Sustainable Energy First are a flexible employer and many of our employees benefit from working from home where circumstances permit.

You should be analytical and numerical, have good attention to detail, think with initiative and confidently approach problems, act with integrity and be able to work both within a team and independently and meet deadlines.

Previously named BiU, this is an exciting opportunity to join an established and successful company.

The role

  • Supporting the smooth operation of the purchase ledger function including processing supplier invoices, matching to purchase orders / obtaining approvals and dealing with queries
  • Reconciliation and posting of credit card transactions
  • Posting of customer receipts and supplier payments into the company’s systems
  • Processing of staff expenses in line with company policy
  • Contribute to the completion of company month end procedures and reporting
  • Support the Finance team with other finance tasks as and when required

Our ideal candidate

  • Strong IT skills, including being comfortable using MS Office (particularly Excel)
  • The ability to process transactions accurately and efficiently is essential, along with having excellent attention to detail and experience of working to deadlines
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team
  • Although not essential, experience of working within a Finance department would be an advantage, especially purchase ledger experience and / or working with Sage 50
